Things that make me smile

The smell of the first rains,

mischief on a puppy’s face,

a cold juicy mango,

on a scorching summers day.

Splashing in a salty ocean,

my hand clasped in his.

And as the sea gets stormy

and the waves make me sway,

not afraid for a moment

that he’ll let me slip away.
